The Fit Mom-to-Be

Prenatal Exercise Guidelines

You're happy! You have so many hopes and dreams for this new chapter in your life. There is another person inside of you! Suddenly, everything you do with your body also affects another person!? It takes some getting used to! You drive differently; you go up and down stairs just a little more carefully?you know there are probably some special guidelines for exercising during pregnancy.

Thankfully, we've come a long way from the times when people assumed pregnancy was a "delicate" condition and that most any exertion could be harmful to the baby. Those who did exercise may have been met with raised eyebrows for being so selfish while being asked "Are you sure that's ok to do?" Exercising moms-to-be have been vindicated in recent years - current research shows that not only is exercise not harmful to the baby, it's better for the baby than not exercising for almost all healthy pregnant women with normal, low-risk pregnancies!
